Hydro Excavation

TLC Excavation Service

TLC Septic & Excavation Inc offers Hydro Excavation in addition to our regular excavation services. We own TWO Hydro Excavation trucks and can safely and efficiently expose under ground utilities such as fiber optics, gas lines, power line and phone lines for example.

Our high power and high efficiency Hydro Excavation machines make even the toughest excavating jobs easy and safe. Designed to power through all kinds of difficult terrain including frozen ground Hydro-Excavation is a better alternative to traditional mechanical or hand digging.

These non-destructive hydraulic excavating machines use pressurized water and a vacuum system to dig precisely and make visual identification of existing underground utilities like gas lines, fiber optics, T-1’s, etc., so they can be easily avoided. The resulting slurry is simultaneously vacuumed up while digging and deposited into a debris tank.

What is Hydro Excavation?

Hydro excavation is a non-mechanical, non-destructive process that uses pressurized water and industrial strength vacuum to simultaneously excavate and evacuate soil. As hydro excavation safely breaks up soil, the soil and water slurry is conveyed by vacuum to a debris tank.

Instead of manual or mechanical digging methods, hydro excavation uses water to break up soil, which virtually eliminates any risk of underground utility damage. The hydro excavation process results in safe, fast, precise excavations that require less backfill, labor, restoration, and has less environmental impact than traditional excavation techniques.

Hydro Excavation at Work:

  • Potholing/Daylighting
  • Slot Trenching
  • Debris Removal
  • Exposing Utilities
  • Piling Hole Excavation
  • Post Installation
  • Cold Weather Digging
  • Remote Digging

Excavating or exposing underground utilities using hydro excavation is called potholing or daylighting. Since hydro excavation is a non-mechanical, non-destructive process, it enables underground utilities to be exposed without the risks inherit in traditional manual or mechanical excavation methods. Potholing is also a time and cost saving digging method for the installation of signs, telephone poles, fences and the like.

Digging narrow trenches for installing pipes, cables or other in-ground utilities is called slot trenching. Unlike traditional slot trenchers, which can cause serious and costly damage, hydro excavation provides a non-destructive and efficient slot trenching method even on frozen surfaces. Hydro excavation makes it easy and safe to install sprinkler systems, locate underground utilities, and perform similar installations without the risk of damaging previously installed systems or lines.

With hydro excavation’s precise, non-destructive characteristics, it can be used to remove debris and clean out a variety of structures without damaging the surrounding area. Hydro excavation is also an ideal solution for catch basin cleaning, sludge removal and cleaning up spills.

With hydro excavation’s precision, it is ideal for piling hole excavation. Underground utilities that may be uncovered during excavation are not harmed in contrast to the high risk of damage that exists with using manual digging methods.

Since our hydro excavation trucks are equipped with truck-mounted hot water systems, cold weather does not deter them from working.

TLC Hydro Excavation also has an Air Spade Excavation system when water might be an issue.
